From Blank Page to Finished Book: How Manuskripta Works, Step by Step
The exact sequence Manuskripta follows, what you do at each step, and what you get at the end.
Here is the whole thing, in one place
No mystery, no 'it depends'. Manuskripta runs your book through one clear, fixed pipeline. Here's what happens and what you do at each stage.
Step 1 — You describe your book
Open the Create Book screen and fill in six things: your book's title, a short subtitle, a description of what the book covers, how many chapters you want (up to 100), the target word count, and the tone of voice (you can pick up to four — e.g. Professional + Conversational, or Authoritative + Inspirational). Pick the language, choose whether you want a cover, and select a design look. That's your entire brief.
Step 2 — Manuskripta plans your book
The AI reads what you wrote, does any research it needs, and drafts the full blueprint: objectives, chapter titles and a plan for what every chapter covers. You see the plan before any chapters are written.
Step 3 — You approve the plan
This is the moment you're asked to act. The book pauses here — it is neither running nor failed, it is waiting for you. Read the plan. Happy? Approve it and Manuskripta writes every chapter against the plan you signed off on. Want something different? Change the brief or regenerate the plan before you approve — the point of this step is that no prose is written until the plan is right.
Step 4 — Manuskripta writes your book
Chapter by chapter, in order, connected to the plan and to each other, so chapter 8 knows what chapter 7 said. Illustrations are generated and placed inside chapters as it goes. A short, tightly-scoped book can finish in well under an hour; a long or heavily-illustrated book takes longer. Set the book running and spend your time on something else.
Step 5 — Design and cover
The design look you picked colors every page: typography, headings, margins, chapter openings. Front and back covers are generated to match. Don't like the cover? Regenerate it, or adjust it in the visual cover editor.
Step 6 — Format and download
Your book is automatically formatted for print — choose the page size when you create the book, change it later if you like. Export as PDF, Word or ePub. Download, done. The files you get are store-ready.
Optional steps
- Editing — open any book in the editor; tweak text yourself or ask the AI to rewrite any section.
- Translation — turn your book into any of up to 18 languages; cover included; more on that below.
- Series — connect books into a series and the memory engine keeps them consistent.
| Stage | Who does it | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Describe the book | You | About 5 minutes |
| Blueprint & plan | Manuskripta | A couple of minutes |
| Approve the plan | You | As long as you like reading |
| Writing & illustrating | Manuskripta | Depends on length and illustrations |
| Cover & design | Manuskripta (you approve) | Minutes |
| Export & download | You (one click) | Seconds |
Total calendar time from idea to downloadable book: one sitting for most books. How long that sitting lasts depends on your chapter count, target word count and illustration count — a short book is quick, a long illustrated book takes longer. Without Manuskripta: weeks or months.
