Formatting Made Simple: From Messy Draft to Print-Ready Pages

What automatic formatting does for you, page sizes, and when to use manual formatting instead.

Formatting made simple

Formatting is what turns a manuscript into something that looks finished. Page size, margins, chapter headings, front matter, page numbers — the layer most writers dread. Manuskripta does it twice over: automatic formatting built into every book, and a manual formatting mode when you want your hands on the wheel.

Automatic formatting — the standard path

Every generated book comes out formatted. Your chosen page size, designed chapter openings, a title page, copyright page, table of contents, and correctly spaced body text throughout. You did nothing — that's the point. The design look you picked at creation set the style; the page size you picked set the physical format.

Page sizes you can choose

The ink-on-paper sizes real print shops use:

You pick a size when the book is created and can re-format to a different size later without rewriting anything.

Manual formatting — when you want control

Have a draft of your own? Manual formatting takes your text — a doc you wrote yourself, or an unsaved Manuskripta chapter draft — and runs the same formatting engine over it. You supply the front matter (introduction, conclusion, back matter, copyright), Manuskripta supplies the professional layout.

What the formatted output includes

The result

A file you can hand to a print shop, upload to Amazon's paperback flow, or distribute as an ebook — with no separate typesetting project. Formatting used to take a day for professionals and was impossible for amateurs. It's now part of the generation you already did.
