Covers That Sell: Designing Front, Back, and Full Wrap Covers
How cover generation works, how to regenerate or fine-tune a cover, and what 'full wrap' means for print.
Covers that sell
People do judge books by their covers. It's the single biggest visual you'll ever give your book, and Manuskripta generates it for you — front cover, back cover, and a full print wrap.
What you get
- Front cover — the one that displays on store pages and thumbnails.
- Back cover — the sell copy and barcode space version, for print.
- Full wrap — the single flat image that wraps front spine and back: what a print shop needs for a paperback.
You choose what you want when you create the book: no cover, front only, or front + back. Any of these can be changed afterwards.
How the cover gets made
Manuskripta builds the cover around your title, subtitle and book type — the same content that shaped the book also shapes the cover, so it fits. Cover art comes out at high enough resolution for both print and digital display, and the system handles the spine width for you based on your page count and paper (black & white, cream, standard or premium colour).
Regenerating a cover you don't love
First cover feeling wrong? Regenerate and get a fresh take on the same book. You can generate a completely different direction without re-doing the book. If a version is 90% right but not quite, use the visual cover editor to adjust the details — move text, tweak layout, fine-tune the art.
Translated books get translated covers
When you translate a book, the cover can be regenerated in the target language — not just carried over with the title left in English. That keeps the book native, which matters more on Amazon.es or Amazon.co.jp than most authors realize.
Practical notes for print
- Colors look different on screen vs. paper. If you're printing, order a physical proof — that's standard publishing practice, not a Manuskripta weakness.
- The full wrap is the file a print shop will actually ask for. Have it ready so you don't need to source it separately.
- For most Amazon paperbacks (KDP) the cover assets you download are already the right shape; just follow their upload flow.
